Anne Eerden (Ria Halstead)

She made me calculate how long she’s been gone. It’s 53 years, almost as long as she was alive. She laughs at this photo not because it’s not good but because 60-year-olds don’t look like that nowadays. This is her way of letting you know she has not missed a thing and she is up-to-date with everything.

It’s a busy time of year but I appreciate how I’m still remembered. All the generations know me, thank you. I know I left you too soon but I had people to look after here and I knew you’d be okay. My family are strong individuals, I knew you’d get by. So please remember I have been there since the day you were born and only my body left you. All the signs from nature are from me, I do everything I can, even the annoying moths, just to get your attention.

Look after your eyes at night. You only get one pair of eyes, use more light! I’ll keep appearing in your dreams just to give you one more hug and remind you I’m still here.

Merry Christmas, all my love Mum.

PS. Leave the past in the past. It’s where it belongs.
